The Jute Diversification Promotion Centre (JDPC) - Phase two is the successor of the earlier phase one which was successfully completed in December 2007. Keeping in view the impeding and propelling factors which were experienced by Jute Diversification Promotion Centre - phase one, the second phase has been designed and planned in a manner to cater the actual needs of the hour by the Jute Diversified sub- sector for its uninterrupted forward journey to achieve the objectives and goal within the stipulated five years, time. The first phase of JDPC started in March 2002 when the traditional products almost lost its market to the artificial and synthetic low cost materials for packaging and introduction of bulk handling in place of bagging/packing in jute bags. The jute mills both in private and public sector were loosing persistently and following the situation the mills eventually being closed or partially closed. The age of "Golden Fibre" faced a catastrophe and gradually facing critical crisis of jute businesses except spinning mills.
